Applied Math Faculty Among Top 2% of Scientists

Several faculty members from the Department of Applied Mathematics have been recognized among the world’s top two percent of scientists for 2024, according to Stanford/Elsevier’s Top 2% Scientist Rankings. The annual ranking identifies the most widely cited researchers across a broad range of scientific disciplines, highlighting those who have made substantial contributions to their respective fields.

The Top 2% Scientists list is based on a variety of citation metrics, including the h-index, co-authorship, and adjusted citation counts, ensuring a fair and comprehensive representation of researchers. The rankings are updated annually and provide both career-long data and single-year impact assessments, ensuring relevance and transparency. More than six million researchers worldwide are evaluated across 22 broad fields and 176 sub-fields.

George Em Karniadakis was recognized as the #1 researcher in Applied Mathematics, a significant honor that underscores his leadership and transformative contributions to the field. His groundbreaking work continues to advance mathematical modeling, computational methods, and their application to real-world challenges.
