Peyam Tabrizian Receives Philip J. Bray Award for Teaching

Excellence in Teaching in the Physical Sciences

We are excited and pleased to congratulate Peyan Tabrizian, Director of Undergraduate Studies and Assistant Teaching Professor of Applied Mathematics, on being named a recipient of the Philip J. Bray Award for Excellence in Teaching in the Physical Sciences, one of the University’s highest honors for teaching distinction.

The award recognizes faculty members for sustained and continued excellence in teaching. Tabrizian was selected following a highly competitive nomination process, with nominators highlighting his outstanding dedication to teaching and the lasting impact he has had on students.

As part of the award, Tabrizian will receive funds annually for the next two years to support ongoing research. He will also be formally recognized at the Sheridan Center’s University Awards Ceremony on April 29, 2026.

The Faculty Teaching Excellence Awards celebrate Brown faculty who demonstrate exceptional commitment to teaching across disciplines. Tabrizian’s recognition reflects a sustained commitment to excellence in the classroom and a deep investment in student learning and success.
