We are pleased to congratulate Mara Frielich, Thomas J. and Alice M. Tisch Assistant Professor of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences and Applied Mathematics, on being named a recipient of the 2026 Henry Merritt Wriston Fellowship.
The Henry Merritt Wriston Fellowship is a prestigious honor awarded annually to untenured faculty at Brown who demonstrate exceptional excellence in both teaching and scholarship during their early careers. Selected by a faculty committee from a highly competitive pool of applicants, recipients are recognized for their innovative teaching and the originality and impact of their research.
Professor Frielich’s application stood out for both her innovative approach to teaching and the originality of her scholarly accomplishments. This recognition reflects her outstanding contributions to Brown’s dual mission of excellence in research and education.
The fellowship includes one semester of leave on special assignment at full compensation, providing dedicated time for continued research and scholarly development in the coming academic year.
Professor Frielich will be formally honored at the Sheridan Center’s University Awards Ceremony on April 29, 2026.
