John Mallet-Paret

George I. Chace Professor Emeritus of Physical Sciences, Professor Emeritus of Applied Mathematic
Room 204, 170 Hope Street
Office Hours: By appointment only (email)

Biography

Ph.D., University of Minnesota, 1974

Interests

Professor Mallet-Paret studies ordinary and functional differential equations, specifically dynamical systems; differential–delay, lattice, and reaction–diffusion equations, as well as singular perturbations, pattern formation, and bifurcation theory. Current topics include:

  • Traveling waves in lattice differential equations with spatial variations
  • Superexponential solutions in cyclic systems of delay-differential equations
  • Skew-product flows for linear functional differential equations
  • Differential delay equations and biological applications
  • Max-plus operators
