
Sascha Ranftl
Biography
Sascha (pronounce: Sasha) Ranftl’s research interests include Bayesian probability theory, uncertainty quantification, physics-based machine learning and its interdisciplinary applications e.g. in computational engineering and biomedical engineering. He earned his PhD from the Doctoral School of Physics, Institute of Theoretical & Computational Physics, at TU Graz, Austria. He continued to contribute as postdoc and PI at TU Graz within the Graz Center for Computational Engineering and Graz Center for Machine Learning, and was visiting scientist at the Munich Institute for Astro-, Particle- and Bio-Physics, Germany, and Santé Ingéniérie Biologie, Grand École des Mines de Saint-Étienne, France. He is currently Erwin Schrödinger Fellow, leading him to NYU's Courant Institute and Brown University. Sasha is also the founder of Arterioscope, a TU Graz spin-off leveraging digital twin technology for medical diagnostics.
